Less is More at This Thai-Inspired Restaurant in London

When you first walk into Kiln, it feels like everyone in the small restaurant welcomes you. The main room only holds about 20, along a thin bar lined by wine bottles and an open kitchen. Everyone is crammed in, chatting and eating as if they all came together to experience the bar’s beautiful energy.

Kiln gets its name from the dancing fire in the open kitchen, which chars, grills, crisps, cooks everything from succulent pork belly to dark veggies.

A seat at the bar offers a unique show. The talented chefs’ work - fast, artful, deliberate - to create dish after dish captivates the audience. The dancing flames, the wafting smell of herbs, the light sound of chopping, the sizzle of marinated chicken thighs; Kiln engages all your senses.

And this is before you take a bite or a sip of anything.

Kiln’s take on Thai-inspired European follows the same principle as its interior design, wine list, and ingredient selection: less is more. Juicy, grilled meats have precision to their flavor (try the chicken in particular). Their iconic glass noodle soup has a tasty, earthy quality to it. And all their salads pop with fresh, vibrant character.

The wine selection follows this less-is-more philosophy, with a small list of rockstar wines. Only growers who respect Nature with a minimal intervention approach are featured. And because the wines are small batch productions, the selection changes daily.

As one of our favorite Natural Wine restaurants in the world, Kiln has a uniquely unassuming ethos. You can see inspirations from Nature everywhere - the wooden facade, the artisan plateware, the small stone underground cavern, the organic wine list, the beautiful texture of each dish.

If you ever find yourself in London, drop in and see what we mean.
